a shocking number of old-school american outlaws were intensely community-minded, and their reputations at the time were often very positive among the people. a big part of the reason their legacies are so negative is because the government was able to control the narrative after they died, focusing on the fact that the things they did were illegal, rather than on what they actually did.

Ron is blatantly and casually bigoted on many fronts throughout the series but Iām sure as a Gryffindor heās magically immune to racism specifically. I mean heās casually derisive of squibs, has a nonmagical relative who his family specifically avoid talking about, and is raised by a (gryffindor) father who wonāt stop treating muggles like some fascinating inferior exotic culture but yeah, none of that stuff counts, because gryffindors arenāt racist. Only hating and wanting to kill people who are different counts as racial superiority and blood purity isnāt a clear analogue for racism so everyone else is in the clear.
